The Original Film
Yet another package feature. Taking inspiration from Fantasia. Make Mine Music reinterprets songs into animated shorts. There is even one segment reused from Fantasia. However, unlike the previous film Make Mine Musicuses primarily popular songs and singers of the day instead of just classical music. Though a little bit of classical gets through in from time to time. The film tries to showcase a variety of musical genres, but given how dated the music is the distinction between songs now all fall under the category of “oldies swing”.
Good luck trying to find a version of this movie that isn’t censored. Every release that I know of either edits out scenes or whole short segments. Primarily the Martians and Coys short for guns and All the Cats join in for brief nudity. If you want an watch this film in it’s entirety, you may need to just watch in the individual shorts separately.

Also sung during the “The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met” are excerpts from Tristan und Isolde, Mefistofele, and “Mag der Himmel Euch Verbegen” from Martha. But I couldn’t find recordings of just Eddy Nelson singing them.
