Fantasia - 4


The Original Film 



Fantasia was an experiment in sight and sound. A visual concert with classical music as it’s center piece. While none of the music here is original, the arrangements performed in this film have become iconic. 
All songs are conducted by  Leopold Stokowski and performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra

Deleted Songs 
Many pieces of music were chosen for development of the film and it’s sequel. Some were eventually made into individual shorts. Others were left on the cutting room floor. Only known to us through notes found in the faults.

  19. “One by One” - Lebo M (was originally written for The Lion King and then used in this short which was cut from Fantasia 2000 ) 
  20. “Fantasia Original Demo” - Trevor Rabin (for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice)

Sequels 
Fantasia was always meant to be a continuous franchise since it conception.(think like the current MCU but with classical music instead of superheroes)Circumstances would prove otherwise. However, 60 years later, a theatrical squeal was made to fulfill Walt’s original vision, Fantasia 2000. 
All new songs are conducted by James Levine and performed by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Live Action Adaptation   
A very loose adaptation of the segment “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was released in theaters in 2010. Other adaptations of famous segments are rumored to be in the works as well.
