The Rescuers - 30

The Original Film
This is the last film to be animated by the legendary nine old men. While they were not the only heads of animation the studio ever had, the nine old men became the backbone of the animation department during the Silver Age. After this movie they pass the torch on down to other greats of animation. Mainly the ones who will come to define the Renaissance later.

The songs were written by Sammy FainCarol Connors, and Ayn Robbins.  For the first time since Bambi, all the most significant songs were sung as part of a narrative, as opposed to by the film’s characters as in most Disney animated films.
  1. “The Journey” -  Shelby Flint
  2. “Rescue Aid Society” - Bernard Fox, Bob Newhart, Robie Lester, and the Disney Studio Chorus
  3. “Faith is a Bluebird” - John McIntire and Michelle Stacy
  4. “Tomorrow is Another Day” - Shelby Flint
  5. “Someone’s Waiting For You” - Shelby Flint
Deleted Songs
The film was originally going to feature a character called Louis the Bear, played by Louis Prima. Many songs were written and already recorded, but sadly Prima had a heart attack and went into a coma for five years before he could finish recording all of his lines. The character had to be dropped from the film and Prima died shortly after the movie’s release. Fortunately though we can now hear all of his songs on the Disney’s Lost Cords series.
  1. “Doin’ What I Really Do Best” - Louis
  2. “I Never Had It So Good” - Louis
  3. “Peopleitis” - Louis
  4. “The Need to Be Loved” - Rewritten into “Someone’s Waiting For You”
  5. “The Rescue Aid Society” - (demo)
Squeals
The Rescuers Down Under is the first animated Disney squeal to be made. As such it was made for theaters with the same budget as any other Disney animated film. The movie also doesn’t feature any songs unlike it’s parent film. However I’ve included the movie’s end credit score and main title.
  1. “Main Title”
  2. “End Credits”
Disney Released Remixes and Covers
  1. “Tomorrow Is Another Day” - (pop version)
