Pete’s Dragon - 31

The Original Film
Pete’s Dragon is one of my favorite live action/animation hybrid films to be made by Disney. This is due in no small part to the music by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn. Their songs comprise perhaps the catchiest soundtrack to ever be written.

  1. “The Happiest Home in These Hills” - Shelley WintersCharles Tyner,Gary Morgan, and Jeff Conaway
  2. “Boo Bop Bopbop Bop (I Love You, Too)” - Sean Marshall and Charlie Callas
  3. “I Saw a Dragon” - Mickey RooneyHelen Reddy, and Ensemble
  4. “It’s Not Easy” - Sean Marshall and Helen Reddy
  5. “Passamashloddy” - Jim DaleRed Buttons, and Ensemble
  6. “Candle on the Water” Helen Reddy
  7. “There’s Room for Everyone” Helen ReddySean Marshall, and Ensemble
  8. “Every Little Piece” Jim Dale and Red Buttons
  9. “Brazzle Dazzle Day” - Helen ReddySean Marshall, and Mickey Rooney
  10. “Bill of Sale” - Shelley WintersCharles TynerGary MorganJeff Conaway, and Helen Reddy
Remake
Just this year Disney released I remake of the film, this time using CGI instead of cell animation. I’ve yet to see it, but from what I can gather the movie is less comedic in tone to the original and isn’t a musical. Oh there are songs in the film, but they aren’t sung by any of the characters.
  1. “The Dragon Song” - Bonnie “Prince” Billy
  2. “Something Wild” - Lindsey Stirling and Andrew McMahon
  3. “Nobody Knows” - The Lumineers
  4. “Something on Your Mind” - St. Vincent
  5. “So Long Marianne” - Leonard Cohen
  6. “Gina Anne” - Bosque Brown
  7. “The Dragon Song Revisited” - Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy
  8. “Candle on the Water” - Okkervil River
Disney Released Remixes and Covers
  1. “Boo Bop Bopbop Bop I Love You, Too” - Demo
  2. “Candle On The Water” (single version) - Helen Reddy
  3. “Candle on the Water” - Anneliese van der Pol Disneymania 4
